Garrett Hits Xfinity Series With SS Green Light Racing, Promoting HEAL*ARIOUS to Combat PTSD
Points leader in SRO TC America Series, Colin Garrett has won twice at Indy in that series and is now out to take the checkered flag in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend. For his first Xfinity race since 2021, Garrett returns to the series as driver of the SS Green Light Racing 11/11 Veteran Project #07 Chevrolet Camaro in the Pennzoil 150 at The Brickyard.
Garrett will be promoting HEAL*ARIOUS, comedians MandatoryFunDay and Ashley Gutermuth, Ref-ology, and Women’s PBA, continuing his work to improve access to resources that help the military community live healthy, happy lives.
HEAL*ARIOUS improves mental health and helps prevent suicide in a new way, using comedy as a tool to improve psychological performance by reframing negative thought patterns to improve quality of life and cognitive processing.
In July Garrett was the rookie on stage at the “Operation HEAL*ARIOUS” stand up comedy show in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Now HEAL*ARIOUS, Gutermuth, and MandatoryFunday will be the rookies as they join him on the national stage of NASCAR that he’s so familiar with.
As founder of the for-purpose for-profit company 11/11 Veteran Project, this wheelman isn’t looking to reinvent the wheel: Garrett promotes access to existing resources that help veterans, active duty, military families, and the disabled live the life they deserve.
What he is reinventing, though, is the sponsorship model.
Rather than traditional sponsorships, he and 11/11 Veteran Project work with companies who need help solving critical problems like recruiting great employees or reaching veteran owned small businesses. They then use the profits from that work to fund racing to promote the causes and small businesses Garrett supports.
“It feels great to help companies solve their own problems and let them be part of a bigger cause at the same time,” says Garrett. “We really believe that everyone comes out a winner when working with 11/11 Veteran Project. If a single business decision could help save someone else’s life, why wouldn’t you do it?”
The green flag for the Pennzoil 150 at The Brickyard is Saturday, August 12, at 5:30 PM ET and the race will be televised live on USA Network.
